That's exactly what I did this morning @ Sweet and Savory Pie in Fremont. After receiving this fabulous email from Thrillist, I had Sweet and Savory on my "must try" list. An early appointment and some extra time before I started work made it all happen. I made the trek out to Fremont and found this spot with ease. Midway up the block I could smell this wonderful aroma of goodness wafting in the air. I was greeted by the owner and we struck up a conversation. They are looking to expand fast, hire some new workers so that they can stay open later and produce more throughout the day. They're also opening a "walk up window" to appease the late night pub crawlers (splendid idea!).
The menu had lots of choices and I could see that they were all fresh baked that morning. I opted for the bacon cheddar pie and a pecan mini. Crust was perfect, flaky yet not insanely dry. It had just the right mix of bacon, cheese, and fresh egg. Although the product idea is marvelous and it tasted amazing - I was very erked to find my 2 bite pecan tart was $1+. Otherwise, all was well!
I'm all for local business foodies and promoting them so - go eat some pie!
