254. Holiday Date

Today I am pleased to blog about my impromptu 'holiday date night'.  The  holiday season is in full swing and Downtown is buzzing with all kinds of activities and events.

Our first stop was Pacific Place for their nightly Snowfall Show.  Every night at 6pm it snows inside the mall.  Music and lights are choreographed to make the moment even more magical.  It was a pleasure to see all the children dancing "in the snow" to the holiday music blaring.  A little cheesy but really fun at the same time!

Part two of our night consisted of a holiday tradition we picked up in 2005.  The Gingerbread Village to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.  These aren't your average 'build around a milk carton' gingerbread homes.  They are HUGE and intricate and weigh a ton!

Every year 5 local architecture firms team up with local pastry chefs and create these massive works of art based on a particular theme.  This year's theme was "Home for the Holidays".  A lot of the work hit really close to the heart.  I highly recommend you take a stroll though and look at the work yourself.  You will be in awe of the details put into each piece.  The pictures do not do the work justice!
